Metabolism
We perform metabolism studies to characterise the biotransformation and interaction mechanisms of drugs in different biological systems
When developing a new drug it is mandatory to know its metabolism, i.e. to know how the body transforms or modifies its chemical structure with the aim to eliminate it more readily. Such process entails the formation of new products that derive from the drug itself – the metabolites, that must be perfectly characterised as they might present with additional pharmacological or toxicological effects that should be thoroughly known to be able to establish the study drug’s safety.
Moreover, the metabolism studies also permit to determine in which way a drug can interact with the metabolism of other drugs.
Kymos’ experience regarding development of bioanalytical methods for metabolite determination and characterisation, as well as regarding performance of in vitro metabolism studies or participating in the analytical portion of in vivo metabolism studies, is wide-ranged and deep.
